It is also important to not assert your power too forcefully. For example, if you have a new plan to implement, it is best to encourage others to agree instead of just forcing it down their throats. Be open to feedback and adjust when need be.

Being able to motivate is really the most important skill when it comes to strategic leadership. You have to be able to get others inspired about meeting the organization’s goals as you are. Part of this is portraying a positive attitude at all times. You can also portray your determination so that others feel inclined to exhibit that attitude as well.

Compassion for your subordinates is also very important. While you may not always be able to make changes based on their situation, you want to at least let them know that you understand how they feel. Showing them that you see them as a human instead of just a tool to reach goals will go a long way to inspire them to work their hardest for you.

You will also need to be able to exhibit self control and self awareness. Everything you do, from what you say to how you act, in just about any situation, will determine how your subordinates feel about you, and in the end, the work that they do. Additionally, but implementing these qualities you are setting the example for how everyone is expected to behave in the workplace.
